Provides a superb opportunity to learn more about international apprenticeships and technology

07 October 2019 – The Global Apprenticeship Network Australia (GAN) today announced it will be giving away its first International Apprenticeship Scholarship worth up to $12,000 to an Australian apprentice.  Designed to provide Australian apprentices and trainees the opportunity to experience how apprenticeships and traineeships are delivered abroad, the scholarship will allow the recipient to investigate alternative technologies and work methods and compare their apprenticeship in a local context.

GAN Australia Executive Director, Gary Workman, said, “We at GAN Australia are delighted to be able to offer this amazing opportunity for one of our apprentices.  The whole purpose of our global network is to share information from around the world because we know we can make our programs better by learning from each other.  By having an apprentice who has or is going through the process here go overseas to compare these programs, this will give us another vital perspective for our own apprenticeship programs.”

To be eligible, the person must be an apprentice or trainee or completed their apprenticeship within the last 12 months.  They must be at least 18 years old.  As part of the application, the apprentice must also explain details about their apprenticeship, including their career and study achievements, their experience working in a team, describe any challenges they’ve faced and explain which country they would like to visit and why.

The application form can be found at: https://gan-australia.org/international-apprentice-scholarship/.  Applications forms must be received by 11.59 pm on Friday, 1 November 2019 and will not be accepted after this date.   All applicants will be notified in writing within 3 weeks of the closing date.  The scholarship recipient will be invited to attend the AEN/GAN Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, 6 December 2019 where they will be formally presented with the scholarship.
